It is such a treasure to find old photos that capture wonderful family memories. I was so glad to recently come across the most special image of my Grandparents early on in their relationship. I was somewhat surprised by my emotional response as I working on this painting. And yet, considering my affection for my Grandparents, and how much I miss my Grandpa who passed away 12 years ago, it seemed to be a natural response for me. I'm finding that my nostalgia and sentiment is currently feeding my inspiration and motivation in my artwork. I have many other family photos in mind that I am looking forward to working on. I will show the final image soon of this latest painting. This painting will be a part of a juried art exhibition in February/March at the Waterford Old Town Hall.
I live in Southern Ontario on a farm with my husband, Dennis, and our two daughters. Painting out of my studio on our farm allows me to stay close to my family and to be surrounded by the natural landscape that continues to influence my work.
